Improve male fertility by doing this twice a week for 5 minutes

Ever heard of glutathione? Some refer to it as the “mother antioxidant” as it is arguably the most powerful antioxidant in the human body. The job of antioxidants is to protect the cells of your body from oxidative damage caused by aging, stress, poor diet, lack of sleep, excessive exercise, medication, environmental toxins, and so much more. Your body produces glutathione (as long as you take in the correct nutrients and building blocks), but it is also used up and depleted very quickly.
When it comes to male factor infertility, research shows that oxidative stress can have a profound negative effect on the health of sperm, including the ability to cause DNA damage and even cell death. The good news is that some of this damage can be reversed with the help of powerful antioxidants like CoQ10 and glutathione. One study examined the effect of twice weekly glutathione injections on male infertility and found that it had a significant effect on sperm motility patterns, among other parameters like morphology. These are things that we frequently see out of range on a semen analysis, that can make it very difficult for a man to impregnate a woman.
When it comes to treatment, conventional medicine doesn’t offer much for men, with the exception of ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection). But what if you’re not undergoing IVF?
In a clinical setting, I offer twice weekly glutathione injections to help men who are looking to improve their fertility either for natural conception or in preparation for an IVF/IUI cycle. The appointment itself is only 5 minutes and involves a quick injection (with a pediatric needle) directly into the vein, containing 600mg of glutathione. We recommend doing a semen analysis prior to starting treatment so that we can track progress. Duration of treatment is typically about 2-3 months. This treatment is of course complemented by a holistic plan of recommendations that address your overall health. Dietary and lifestyle modifications are extremely important for influencing the health of sperm and the environment in which they live, and we are always sure to address all aspects of your life that may contribute to your overall health and fertility.
If you’d like to find out whether glutathione injections are the right treatment option for you, you are welcome to book in for an initial visit or schedule a free 15 minute phone consult to discuss your health goals. Please call 604-873-9355 for booking.
